After living at many locations throughout their married life, they moved to Mount Ayr in January 1971 where they managed the Clinton Motel for five years.

Velma was a homemaker and had other employment during her lifetime. They had no children but made a home for several years for a young niece, Marilyn MEESKE, as well as Roy’s half-sister Anne, and father, Peter PIMPER. Their home was always open to friends and relatives. They moved to Afton, Iowa in 1986 and lived there for 13 years.
