J. PEPPMEIER DIES - Creston

John PEPPMEIER, 87, who made his home at 604 Sycamore in Creston, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1981 at Greater Community Hospital. He had suffered a heart attack. He was a lifetime resident of the Shannon City area in Union and Ringgold counties, moving to Creston in 1968 following his retirement from farming.

John Ludwig PEPPMEIER was born October 30, 1893, in Union county, northwest of Shannon City, the son of Henry and Sophie NAGEL PEPPMEIER. On November 13, 1916, he took Ruth J. KELLER to be his bride at a ceremony held in Mount Ayr. He had farmed for many years in the Shannon City area.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sisters, Mrs. Fern FRANKENBURGER of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Pauline HILL of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, and two half-brothers and half-sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston, with Rev. K. Wayne HOEHNS, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at Shannon City.

A memorial has been established for the Shannon City Methodist Church.
