The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1933

OBITUARY - MRS. WILLIAM PERRY.

Peery gravestone.jpg Mary Elizabeth DAVIS, daughter of James M. and Mary Ann DAVIS, was born near Old Eugene August 6, 1862, and departed this life December 14, 1933, aged 71 years, four months and six days, in her home in Tingley. She was united in marriage to William PERRY October 20, 1877. To this union was born one daughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Louella and her husband. She leaves to mourn her loss three sisters, Mrs. Dora GUY of Sioux City, Mrs. Louis DAY of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Maggie NILSON of Des Moines, and a host of other relatives and friends. In her youth she united withthe Christian church, but later transferred her membership to the Methodist church and remained a faithful member up to the time of her death. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. She had never wanted to be a burden to anyone and was a patient sufferer during her last illness. Six years ago Mr. and Mrs. PERRY celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

NOTE: William's obituary and William & Mary's gravestone spell their surname "PEERY." Cornwall Cemetery records spell their surname "PERRY" as does Mary's obituatry. Luella (PEERY) GRIMES, daughter of William and Mary Elizabeth (DAVIS) PEERY, was interred at Cornwall Cemetery. Cornwall Cemetery is also known as Haight Cemetery and/or Silver Street Cemetery, Shannon City, Union County, Iowa.
