OBITUARY - REBECCA (BENNETT) PAGE

Rebecca BENNETT was born in Adams county, Ohio, January 28, 1847, and died at Diagonal, Iowa, February 22, 1927, aged 80 years and 27 days. She was united in marriage to John R. PAGE March 3, 1863. To this union nine children were born, seven surviving her. From Ohio, the family moved to Walnut, Kan., where Mr. PAGE died in 1885. In 1898 the family came to Diagonal where she resided until her death. When about 35 years of age she was converted and united with the Christian Church at Fincastle, Ohio., Later she transferred her membership to the Methodist Espicopal church. She was also an active member of the W.F.M.S. and the W.C.T.U. and was also a tither. In her life she expemplified the sprirt of her Master, always going about doing good. Folks in sorrow found in her a ready and sympathizing friend. The younger people came to her for counsel and encouragement, the aged for good cheer and comfort. No one ever appealed to her for aid and was turned away if it were possible for her to help them. Service for others was the motto of her life and her loved ones who remain mourn not as they who have no hope for she died as she lived a sincere christian.

Those of her children who are left are: Mrs. Emma WILLEY of Chicago; Mrs. Geo. GRAHAM of Diagonal; Charles and Edward PAGE of San Jose, Calif.; Thomas of Springfield, Ill.; and Joseph and Archabel of Walnut, Kan. She had forty-five grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George GRAHAM, conducted by Rev. Guy J. WINSLOW, February 24 at 9:00 a.m. Mrs. WILLEY and Mrs. GRAHAM accompanied the body to Walnut, Kansas, where interment was beside her husband.
