OBITUARY - GOLDIE JEANNETTE (FOSTER) PADGITT

Goldie Jeannette PADGITT of Beaconsfield, Iowa died December 3, 1999 at the age of 85 years at the Vista Gardens Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa.

Goldie was born July 23, 1914 at Percival, Iowa, the daughter of Cora and Loman FOSTER. She graduated from the Percival, Iowa high school in 1931. Goldie was united in marriage to George Claiborne PADGITT of Thurman, Iowa in March of 1932. To this union one daughter, Patricia Jeannette, was born. Goldie and Claiborne made their home for seven years after their marriage at Thurman and McPaul, Iowa in Freemont county. In the spring of 1940, they purchased their farm three and one half miles southwest of Beaconsfield, Iowa where they were to both live the rest of their lives.

Over the years, Goldie spent her life as a homemaker and farmer's wife. She particularly enjoyed the outdoors -- with gardening, cooking and baking being her favorite pastimes -- until suffering a severe stroke in 1984.

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband Claiborne in July of 1973; her parents, Cora and Loman FOSTER; two sisters, Daisy and Maxine; and all five brothers, George, Melvin, Hubert, Everett and Max FOSTER.

Survivors include one daughter Patricia of Omaha, Nebraska and one sister Fern TRULOVE of Willington, Utah, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on Monday, December 6, 1999 with Rev. Michael DRUHL officiating. Nancy SACKETT, organist, and Judy CUNNING, soloist, provided music. Casketbearers were Jim SMITH, Boyd TAGGERT, Glen CARMEN, Dave MATHANY, Jack PADGITT and Dale Lee CARMEN.

Interment was in the Oliver Cemetery, Kellerton, Iowa.
