OBITUARY - EUNICE FERNE (SHAFER) NORRIS

Eunice Ferne, daughter of B. W. and Martha Elizabeth SHAFER, was born July 12, 1903, in Clinton township near Redding, Iowa, and departed this life on June 29, 1978, at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 17 days.

She attended school in Redding, and following graducation there, attended teachers college in Clarinda, Iowa. She then taught school in Ringgold county. She was a member of the Redding Methodist church.

On April 27, 1927, Eunice was united in marriage to Dayton G[eorge]. NORRIS and they were privileged to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary this eyar. To this union were born five children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are his husband, Dayton; five children, Russell of Kellerton, Patricia of Blackfoot, Idaho, LeRoy of Culbertson, Mont., Myron of St. Joseph, Mo., and Priscilla of Chouteau, Okla.; two sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mabel MOTSINGER of Grant City, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held July 2, from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with the Rev. Walter ZARR officiating. Mike GREENE, organist, accompanied the vocalists, Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Leo MORGAN. Casketbearers were George NEY, John SHAFER, Douglas NEY, Steven NORRIS, LeRoy Kennedy and Chester MOTSINGER. Interment was in the Redding Cemetery.
