OBITUARY ~ EUNICE MARIE (WHITE) NICHOLS

Eunice M. NICHOLS, age 86, of Albia passed away early Tuesday morning on January 25, 2011 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

Eunice was born February 7, 1924 to Henry and Frances (HENDERSON) WHITE in Jacksonville, Missouri. She attended Ottumwa High School, and later Indian Hills Nursing Program. On March 28, 1942 she married Lloyd D. NICHOLS in Memphis, Missouri. They shared 68 years of marriage.

Eunice and her husband Lloyd raised three children and operated a family farm. They also operated the Albia Country Club and later the Chariton Country Club. Eunice also worked for a number of years with the V. A. Hospital in Knoxville and Des Moines.

She was an active member of the Church of the Brethren and the Monroe County Hospital Auxiliary. Eunice enjoyed painting, poetry, and music. She was a wonderful cook and had numerous talents, and enjoyed volunteering.

Eunice is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Albia; her children, Pam (Greg) GILTNER of Albia, and Twila (Bob) WEST of Pella; thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Francis; one son Don OBERT; two brothers; and one half-sister.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday January 27, 2011 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. Lois WILLIAMS officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date at the Kellerton [Maple Row] Cemetery in Kellerton, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. until time of service on Thursday, January 27, at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Eunice's family present.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of Monroe County.
