FATAL AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT

Thomas J. MILLER, 70, and his wife [Olive Edna (HOFFMAN)], 68, of Blockton and Alex SALTZMAN, 68, of Mount Ayr, were killed Tuesday [September 23rd] when the auto in which they were riding was struck broadside by a truck at the intersection of Highways 51 and 72 near Sauk Centre, MN. Mrs. SALTZMAN suffered a fractured arm and head cuts and late last night was transferred to the Ringgold county Hospital in Mount Ayr. Surviving the MILLERS are a son, Duane, of Blockton, and three daughters, Hazel Ruth (Mrs. Ray SMITH) of Des Moines, Ada Mae (Mrs. John MOON) of Blockton and Mary Elizabeth (Mrs. John OGLE) of Bedford.

NOTE: Thomas J. MILLER was born in Ringgold County, Iowa May 30, 1888. He married Olive Edna HOFFMAN, the daughter of John Saveree HOFFMAN Jr. and Mary Vaina (FERGUSON) WAUGH HOFFMAN, on March 9, 1910. Olive was born in Redding, Iowa, on February 6, 1890. They were interred at Redding Cemetery, Redding.

Hugh Alexander "Alex" SALTZMAN was born in Redding on November 12, 1894. He was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
