OBITUARY ~ LUCILLE VIVIAN REED MICKAEL

Lucille Vivian REED MICKAEL, daughter of Charlie and Helen SOUTH REED, was born February 25, 1932 at Van Wert, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she went to school in Maryville, Missouri to be a school teacher. She taught country school for three years at Van Wert and Grand River.

On May 25, 1955, Lucille married Kenneth Dale MICKAEL. They moved to Des Moines and Lucille worked at an insurance company for a short while before starting a family.

In the early 1960s, the family moved to Kellerton. After the children started school, Lucille worked at the Grand River school as a teacher's aide. After that she started full-time as a 4-H Extension aide. She retired when her husband retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Lucille and Kenneth enjoyed several years together running to Des Moines to visit children and grandchildren. MICKAEL was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Aide and Rebekah Lodge and was active in the Christian Church, where she taught Bible school.

Lucille was a great homemaker, always fixing some of the best homemade goodies you'll ever eat. She will be dearly missed.

After Kenneth's death on October 14, 2007, Lucille's life changed and her children moved her to Des Moines to be closer to them.

Lucille passed away August 12, 2012 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Harold REED; and brother-in-law Harold MICKAEL.

Those left to mourn her passing include her children Carla, Duane, and Arlan; grandchildren Melissa, Justin, Elisabeth, Stephanie, Trever, Kyle, and Toni; great-grand-children Xzaydriana, Wyatt, Cody, Jayden, Mackenzie, Mason, and Kyren; great-great-grandchildren Kaeleoniah and Kameron; sister Norma MUNYON; brothers Les and Lloyd REED; many other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.

Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Wednesday, August 15. Officiating was Rev. Terry ROBERTS. Songs included "Life Ain't Always Beautiful," "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" and "Almost Like You Never Went Away."

Casketbearers were Duane MICKAEL, Arlan MICKAEL, Justin MICKAEL, Trever MICKAEL, Aaron REED and Terry MUNYON.

Honorary pallbearers were Kent REED and Ronnie REED.

Burial was in Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton.

Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
