James "Jim" Arthur Lutz, 63, died Aug. 28 at the Denver VA Hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Killerton (sic),
Iowa, to Boyd and Vera V. (Coverdell) Lutz. He married Susan Darrah on July 24, 1970, in Las Animas. He was a machinist
and worked for Nibco in La Junta. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Susan of Pueblo West;
two sons, Trenton James Lutz of Casa Grande Ariz., Jeremey Todd Lutz of Lamar; one daughter, Elizabeth (Vonnie) Lutz
(Steve Essenburg) of Pueblo West; three brothers, Edward (Dorothy) Lutz of Iowa, Gene (Caroline) Lutz of Canon City,
Bill (Phyllis) Lutz of Las Animas; one sister-in-law, Nona Lutz of Iowa; one brother-in-law, Gerald Meyers of Denver; a
cousin, Jerry (Barbara) Coverdell of Pueblo; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
two brothers, Bob Lutz and Tommy Lutz and four sisters, Mabel Meyers, Shirley Smith, Naomi Wilson and Georgia Lee Eighme.MO<
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 at Horber Funeral Chapel with Derek Hutchinson, CLP officiating.
Special music included "Spirit" and "Spirit of the Living God." with Duana Bourne as organist.
Casket bearers were Tom Hogue,
Lyle Bradshaw, Lucas Bradshaw, Robert O'Conner, Chris Cardenas, Keith Brown and Joe Frazier. Honorary casket bearers were
Ken Thaxton and Rob Thaxton.
Burial was in the Fort Lyon National Cemetery with Borber Funeral Chapel in charge of
arrangements. Military honors were conferred by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2311.
