Boyd Lutz

LAS ANIMAS (C-SJ) - Boyd Lutz, 62, died Thursday after suffering a stroke at his home.

Funeral services will be announced by the Powell-Griffy Mortuary.

Lutz was born at Marietta, Ill, July 14, 1902. His family moved to Kellerton where he attended school. He and Miss Veva Coverdell were married there in 1923. They came to Las Animas in 1945. He was an auto mechanic.

In addition to his widow, he is surved by five sons, Edward Lutz, Waterloo, Iowa; Loyd G. Lutz, Eads; Robert Lutz, stationed in the Philippines; William Lutz, stationed in Germany, and James Lutz, Norfolk, Va.; five daughters, Mrs. Georgia Lee Ameigh (sic), Tingley, Iowa; Mrs. Shirley May Smith, Malad City, Idaho; Mr. Mable Meyers, Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Naomi Wilson, Las Animas, and 18 grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, Roy Lutz, Des Moines, Iowa; Ben Lutz, Maryville, Mo.; Jim Lutz, Junction Cave, Ore., and Scott Lutz, Panora, Iowa.

Funeral Services For Boyd Lutz
Held Monday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Powell-Griffy Mortuary Chapel for Boyd Lutz who died last Thursday following a stroke.

The Rev. Don Wirsdorfer officiated and the hymns "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden" were chosed for the service. Mrs. Cecil Klinkerman on the organ, accompanied Mrs. Elaine McPherson, the soloist.

Casket bearers were Arthur Crick, Frank Richards, Clyde Reynolds, Harold Snodgrass, Paul Jenkins and Tom Tamura.

Interment was in the Las Animas [Colorado] Cemetery with arrangements by the Powell-Griffy Mortuary.

Out of town relatives present were three daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Eighme and daughters of Tingley, Ia., Mrs. Bob Smith and Patty of Malad City, Ida.; and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Meyers and family of Independence, Mo.; five sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Lutz of Waterloo, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lutz and daughters of Eads, Robert Lutz, stationed with the Navy in the Philippines, William Lutz, stationed with the Air Force in Germany and James Lutz, stationed in Norfolk, Va. with the Navy; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Lutz of Panora, Ia., and Ben Lutz of Maryville, Mo., also Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Coverdell of Rocky Ford and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Goff of Perry, Okla.

Out of town friends were Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Hininger of Pueblo, Dale Willits of Haswell, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pearcey, and Mrs. Pete Hoepner of Eads, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hohensee, Velda Jones, Wilma Daffern of Lamar and Mrs. Jim Yett of La Junta.

NOTE: Boyd was interred at Las Animas Cemetery, Las Animas, Colorado.
