OBITUARY ~ VERNON WILLIAM LANTZ

Funeral services for Vernon William Lantz were held at the Wilson Watson Funeral Home in Mt. Ayr Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Officiating the service was Rev. David Canfield. Music was provided by Mrs. Keith Sackett.

Casketbearers were Don Cordell, Greg Breiner, Elmer Livingston, and Eugene Spencer.

Vernon William Lantz, son of Walter H. and Etta May Lantz was born at Tabor, Iowa on May 31, 1909 and departed this life on November 16, 1995 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston.

His entire life was spent in Blockton, Redding and Lenox except for three years when he lived in California. He was an employee of Ringgold county for 29 years.

On December 20, 1933 he was united in marriage with Lorene Norris and to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Loretta Ann and Ila Jean.

In 1940 he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of the Assembly of God church of which he was faithful to his calling as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

He was preceded in death his parents, Walter and Etta May; wife Lorene; two brothers, Raymond and Gaylord; three sisters Wilma Lantz, Stella Ewart, and Elsie Matheny; and one great granddaughter Cynthia Marshall.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ann and husband Don Cordell of Fremont, Neb. and Ila and husband Elmer Livingston of Corwith, Iowa; many grand and step grandchildren, other family members and a very special friend Darlene Winslow.

Vernon was laid to rest in the Redding Cemetery in Redding, Iowa.
