Mount Ayr Record News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

OBITUARY ~ DEE ELLIS LAMB

Dee Ellis LAMB, son of Edgar and Mary LAMB, was born Jan. 7, 1895, near Hatfield, Mo., and departed this life on Nov. 24, 1967, at his home in Mount Ayr, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 17 days.

On Dec. 27, 1914, he was united in marriage with Flossie MOLER, and of this union were born two daughters, Velma GREEN, of Mediapolis, and Isabella Frances, who died in infancy.

At the age of two years, Freida MOLER was welcomed into the LAMB home and a nephew, Clyde LAMB, was reared by the LAMB family.

Mr. LAMB spent most of his life in or near Mount Ayr. At the age of 15 years, he entered the dray business with his father. Later, he engaged in the lime hauling business, in which he remained until ill health caused him to retire.

In January of 1934, he was baptized into the Christian faith in Mount Ayr. He was a member of the Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department and served actively in that capacity for 39 1/2 years.

Mr. and Mrs. LAMB were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 27, 1964.

A kind and loving husband and father, he will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Through his business associations, he made many friends and was well and favorably known throughout the county.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers - one in infancy, and Merle, 16 years ago.

Left to cherish his memory are his widow, Flossie; daughter, Velma GREEN; his foster children, Freida WOOLLUMS, of Mount Ayr, and Clyde LAMB, of Viet Nam; two brothers, Russel, of Long Beach, Calif., and Perl, of Silvis, Ill,; four sisters, Nettie HALEY of Fort Madison, and Juanita MILLER, Mildred GREEN and Alice GRIDLEY, of Clovis, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Dee E. GREEN, Eddie E. GREEN, Martha L. LAMBERT, David WOOLLUMS, Elaine GREEN, Susan GREEN and Kenneth LAMBERT; a great-granddaughter, Renee Sue LAMBERT; neighbors and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Nov. 27, from the Rhoades funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Ward CAMPBELL, pastor of the Free Methodist church. Kenneth BURRIGHT, vocalist, was accompanied at the organ by Margaret PENCE, and casketbearers were Clyde BRAND, Edwin MERCER, Paul DRAKE, Don SICKELS, Owen CAMPBELL and Nick TERWILLIGER. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Magel BRADLEY, Mrs. Dean FROST and Mrs. Edwin MERCER. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery at Mount Ayr.
