OBITUARY - MILO EVERETT MORSE

Milo Everett MORSE, son of Benjamin and Lucy (STUCK) MORSE, was born Sept. 14, 1893, in Poe Township, southeast of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and passed away Feb. 19, 1985, at the V.A. Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 91 years, five months and five days old.

His family spent most of their lives around Mount Ayr engaged in farming.

In 1918 Milo enlisted in the Army, spent time in France and was discharged in 1919.

On September 12, 1920, Milo was united in marriage to Maud Elizabeth KIMBLE. Five children were born to this union; Ruby Marie, Evalyne Louise, Everett LeRoy, William Franklin and Mary Lou.

Milo lost four of his children in a farm house fire on March 7, 1939. Then on March 21, 1939, he lost his wife, Maud, as a result from the fire earlier. They are all buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr where Milo will also be at rest.

Milo was united in marriage with Maud Elizabeth (SMITH) MARSHALL on October 5, 1940 with her preceding him in death on August 27, 1958.

Milo and Elvira Elizabeth [(MATEER)] STRINGHAM were united in marriage on June 3, 1959. She now resides at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center where they have lived for the past year.

Milo had three brothers; Guy, Fred and William and two sisters; Ella May and Francis Louise.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Maud, four of his children, his parents, three brothers, one sister and his second wife Maud.

He is survived by his wife Elvira, one son, Everett, one daughter-in-law Opal, eight grandchildren, one step-son, Wayne BUTLER, one step-daughter-in-law, Esther, three step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one sister, Frances MILLER of Des Moines, many nieces and nephews and a great many friends.

Services were held February 21, 1985, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Officiating was Pastor Phil KINTON. Music was by Mike GREENE and Mrs. Jim JONES. Casketbearers were Rick MORSE, LeRoy MORSE, Marvin MORSE, Ronald MORSE, Ronald ROACH and Richard BUTLER. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Military graveside rites by Ringgold Post #172 of the American Legion.
