OBITUARY - ELVIRA MORSE, Mount Ayr
MOUNT AYR - Elvira MORSE, 80, of Mount Ayr, died Friday, June 24, 1988, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following a long illness.
Services were Sunday afternoon, June 26, at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Phil KINTON officiated
with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mrs. MORSE was born Jan. 28, 1908, near Afton to Charles and Phoebe (LOCK) MATEER. She lived most of her life in
Ringgold County and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo, in February 1985.
Survivors include a son, Wayne BUTLER of Mount Ayr; a step-son, Everett MORSE of Redding; three grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel HUTCHINSON of Fort Dodge, and a sister-in-law, Bernice MATEER of Spokane, Wash.

OBITUARY - ELVIRA ELIZABETH (MATEER) MORSE
Elvira Elizabeth (MATEER) MORSE, daughter of Charles and Phoebe (LOCK) MATEER, was 28, 1908, in Afton, Iowa,
and went to be with Jesus on June 24, 1988. Vi was 80 years, four months and 26 days young.
She lived in Ringgold
County most of her life except for the last few days of her life at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines when she
In 1928, Elvira was united in marriage to Elijah BUTLER and was divorced the same year.
she was united in marriage to Perry STRINGHAM. One son, Wayne, was born to this union.
On Dec. 5,
1937, she became a member of the First Christian Church of Mount Ayr and had been honored as a fifty-year member.
In 1959, Elvira was united in marriage to Milo MORSE. She lived at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center since February,
She ws preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; a brother-in-law; three sisters and one brother.
Vi is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife, Esther; step-son, Everett and wife Opal; sister, Mabel; sister-in-law,
Bernice; three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and lots of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held June 26, 1988, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Phil KINTON. Music
was provided by Mike GREENE and Mrs. Jim JONES.
Casketbearers were Rick MORSE, Jerry CLARK, Marvin MORSE, Leroy
MORSE, Ronnie ROACH and Richard BUTLER. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
