OBITUARY - LEO V. MORGAN

Leo V. MORGAN, 83, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Kellerton, died January 16, 2006, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Ellston United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brian OLIVER will officiate the service. Burial will be in Oliver Cemetery at Kellerton. Open visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mr. MORGAN, son of Beulah Pearl (FITZGERALD) and Forest Clay MORGAN, was born July 19, 1922, in Kellerton. He graduated from Ellston High School in 1939. On November 9, 1947, he married Darlene M. POORE in Beaconsfield. He was a farmer, and member of Ellston United Methodist Church and Ringgold County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene MORGAN of Mount Ayr; two sons, Dr. Ronald (wife Marta BURKGREN) MORGAN of Ames and Neil (wife Cindy) MORGAN of Kellerton; three daughters, Connie (husband Gary) WIECHMANN of Lewis, Nancy WRIGHT of Waukee and Janelle MORGAN of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren and niece Phyllis PAHUTSKI of Abingdon, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Jack HILL; and son-in-law John WRIGHT.

Blackmore Corner News

January 16 - The community mourns the loss of a longtime neighbor and friend, Leo MORGAN. Leo was born on a farm south of Blackmore Corner and spent his whole life there until moving to Mount Ayr several years ago. Sympathy is extended to his family from everyone in the neighborhood, especially the friends of the Blackmore Friendship Club.
