OBITUARY - JAMES WILLIAM MOON

James William MOON, eldest son of John S. and Louella BARRY MOON, was born at Humeston, Iowa, March 14, 1892, and passed away at the Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa, April 26, 1977, at the age of 85 years, one month and 12 days.

At an early age he and his family moved to Ringgold county where he lived the remainder of his life.

On October 18, 1913, he was united in marriage to Fern H. McCULLOUGH. To this union was born three daughters, Gerata MOSBARGER, passing away September 1969, Theola AKERS of Kellerton, and Rowena LUCKIEWICA of Creston, and one son, whodied in infancy.

He was engaged in farming for a number of years and later moved to Kellerton where he resided at the time of his death.

He was interested in the betterment of the community taking an active part in school and county affairs.

He served on the Agricultural Adjustment Act or Triple A for 12 years and also was a member of the Ringgold County Board of Education for 21 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the United Methodist Church of Kellerton.

Besides his daughter and infant son, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife; two daughters; three grandchildren, Kay McDOWELL of Columbus, Neb., Monte AKERS of Kellerton, Joy GORNALL of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a son-in-law, Harold AKERS of Kellerton; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, from the United Methodist Church in Kellerton, conducted by Rev. Walter ZARR. Arlen HUGHES, soloist, was accompanied by organist, Mrs. Weldon MEADOWS. Casketbearers were Gene SICKELS, Herman INGRAM, Francis VIRDEN, Francis McDOWELL, Frank REASONER and Gilmore BARBOUR. Interment was in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
