OBITUARY

Alta May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph [Edward and Nancy Jane (SIMPSON)] STEVENS, was born near Diagonal, Oct. 5, 1880, and passed away at her home in Omaha, Nebr., Friday February 16 [1934].

Her early life was spent on the farm of her parents, now occupied by her brother, Walter X. STEVENS. Here she grew to womanhood, gaining the friendship and admiration of many of this community. She was united in marriage to Burney F. MONK, April 10, 1901, and to this union was born four children, all of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. MONK moved to Omaha in November, 1917, Mr. MONK having taken employment with the Street Railway Co., of that city.

Mrs. MONK is survived by her husband and the four children - Mrs. Irwin WILHELM of Waco, Texas, Leland MONK of Belleme, Nebr., Miss Edna MONK of Chicago and Elton MONK of Omaha; two grandchildren, Leroy and Margaret, the children of Leland MONK; three sisters, Mrs. A. M. JONES and Mrs. Rudolph FOGLE of Diagonal, and Mrs. Roe WILLIAMS of Des Moines; and three brothers, W. X. STEVENS of Diagonal, Homer STEVENS of Ellston, and Ed STEVENS of Clarinda.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the John A. Gentleman Funeral Home in Omaha. In charge of the service was Rev. GALLAGHER, pastor of the Episcopalian church. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery [Omaha, Nebraska]. The relatives from here who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. A. M. JONES, W. X. STEVENS and Mrs. Rudolph FOGLE.
