OBITUARY - LENA FERN (CRECELIUS) MONDAY

Lena Fern MONDAY, 95 of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died Wednesday morning October 21, 2009 at Northwest Regional Hospital in Bentonville. Funeral services were held Oct. 24 in Grant City, Mo. Burial was at the Kirk cemetery in Allendale, Mo. Memorials may be directed to the Kirk cemetery.

Mrs. MONDAY was born June 12, 1914, near Hatfield, Mo., to Henry Michael and Bertha Jane (BENSON) CRECELIUS. She attended a country school near Hatfield and graduated from Hatfield High School.

She married Victor MONDAY, Dec. 2, 1932, in Grant City. She was a homemaker in Worth County, Mo., and Ringgold County, Iowa, before moving to Creston, Iowa. She moved to northwest Arkansas in 2002 and lived at Highland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bella Vista for the last year and a half.

Fern was an active member of the Baptist church throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, writing and reading poetry, reading the Bible, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include sons Gene, wife Shirley of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Vance, wife Lila of Bella Vista; Dwight, special friend Larry of Plattsburg, Mo.; Jarold, wife Betty of Grafton, W.Va.; grandchildren, David, Jeanette, Vicky, Sherry, Robert, Lonny, Brian, and Karlisha; great-grandchildren, Geneieve, Sasha, Loni, Kassidy, and Gabriel; step-greatgranddaughters Amanda, Courtney, and Anna; great-great-granddaughters, Taryn and Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Victor, brother Gilbert Ray CRECELIUS, and grandson Michael MONDAY.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral home of Grant City. Services were conducted by the Rev. Robert SAUSER of Creston, Iowa., with special music provided by close friend Beth HUNTER of Albia, Iowa.
