OBITUARY - MINNIE (MERRITT) PAIST

Minnie PAIST, 99, Kearney died Monday, May 19, 2003, at St. John's Center in Kearney [Nebraska]. Services will be held Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Kearney, with interment at Kearney Cemetery. Horner-Lieske-Horner funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Wood River United Methodist Church

Minnie MERRIT was born on Febuary 28, 1904, in Kellerton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (MERRILL) MERRITT. She graduated from Kellerton High School. On November 30, 1930 she was married to Ralph PAIST in Mount Ayr, Iowa. They moved to Kearney in 1931 and farmed east of town, then moved to the Shelton-Wood River area in 1954. Upon their retirement from farming in 1974, they moved to Kearney. Minnie was a member of the church in Wood River. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Eugene of Kearney; daughter, Marialee HARTMAN of Kearney; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1995, and by two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
