Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

OBITUARY - AVERY DAVID MICKAEL

Avery David MICKAEL, son of James Franklin and Weltha Olive (TAYLOR) MICKAEL, was born July 11, 1906 in Ringgold County, Iowa, and died August 20, 1986, at Maitland, Florida, at the age of 80 years, one month and nine days.

On October 25, 1939, he was united in marriage to Merle HOLDRIDGE in Yuma, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, one of whom died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife of Mount Ayr, one niece, one nephew, many relatives and a host of friends.

He was involved in varied occupations during his lifetime, as well as being a veteran of World War II. Avery farmed, was a policeman, and a security officer, of which he still held a position with Miracle Equipment of Mount Ayr.

He was most readily identified by his untiring efforts as a gardner. Following his hours of toiling the soil he delighted in sharing with others the fruits of his labor.

Avery was a member of the American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge.

"Gone But Not Forgotten"
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

God in His wisdom has recalled
The boon His love had given
And though the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in Heaven.

Services were held August 26, 1986, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Phil KINTON. Music was provided by Mike GREENE, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Roger TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were Jim BROWN, Lyle MINNICK, Jerry TOWNSEND, Kenneth MICHAEL, Charles YOUNGMAN and Robert HIGHTSHOE. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa. Military graveside rites were conducted by Ringgold Post #172, American Legion.
