OBITUARY - JENNIE "MAUDE" (McMORRIS) KELLER MICHAEL

Jennie Maude (McMORRIS) MICHAEL, daughter of Nancy and George McMORRIS, was born March 20, 1898 near Leon, Iowa, and departed this life Friday, August 18, 1989, at her home in Leon at the age of 91 years, four months and 29 days.

The early years of her life were spent on her parent's farm near Leon. She attended the West Eden rural school and the Leon High School.

Maude worked for many years as secretary for several county attorneys, including Dio McGINNIS and Robert BURDETTE. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 69 years. She attended the Leon United Methodist Church at a younger age, and was a member of the church for 72 years.

On June 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frank A. KELLER. Frank passed away April 13, 1949. On December 15, 1954, she married John H. MICHAEL and they lived in the Mount Ayr, Iowa area. John preceded her in death on November 1, 1962. Abut eight years ago Maude returned to Leon to make her home.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Frank, James, Horace, Guy and Fred McMORRIS; and two nephews, Raymond McMORRIS and Paul McMORRIS.

Maude is survived by two step-daughters: Vesta ALLYN of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Vivian FISHER of Salem, Oregon; three neices: Georgia McMORRIS of Clarinda, Iowa, Dorothy RITTENBACH of Jamestown, North Dakota and Elizabeth REDMAN of Leon; three nephews: Donald McMORRIS of Windermere, Florida, John McMORRIS of Independence, Iowa and Richard McMORRIS of Overland Park, Kansas; many grand-nieces and grand-nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral srvices were held August 21, 1989 at the Slade & Duerr Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa, with Rev. Russell BETZ officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery.
