OBITUARY - STEVEN LEROY "STEVE" MEYERS

Steve MEYERS, 51, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Johnston, died August 30, 2004, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, September 2, at Meredith Drive Reform Church in Des Moines. The Rev. Carl Van FAROWE will officiate the service. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at Johnston. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with time for sharing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Meredith Drive Reform Church in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to Wildbird Ridge in Mount Ayr to be distributed by the family.

Mr. MEYERS, son of Colleen (PACK) and Ora Junior MEYERS, was born April 27, 1953, in Des Moines. He graduated from Johnston High School in 1971. He moved to Mount Ayr in 1998 where he opened and operated Wildbird Ridge Hunt Preserve. In 1990, he married Gloria ROGERS. He worked at Firestone Tire Co. in Des Moines 21 years. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion in Mount Ayr, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria MEYERS of Mount Ayr; children, Todd (wife Paulette) SALE of Winfield, Ill., Dana (husband Steve) LAMPE of Marion, Trevor (wife Tabitha) MEYERS of West Des Moines and Kristion MEYERS of Ankeny; mother, Colleen MEYERS of Des Moines; brothers, Jerry (wife Andrea) MEYERS of Granger, Doug (wife Lynn) MEYERS of Des Moines and Randy MEYERS of Ottumwa; mother-in-law, Ruth ROGERS of Mount Ayr; 13 grandchildren; and extended family, Melissa (husband Mark) McADOO of Toledo and Nikki (husbnd Reuben) NOLLEN of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law, Clay ROGERS.
