OBITUARY - JOHN MERRILL.

John William MERRILL was born in Buro county, Illinois, November 10, 1858. He left Illinois when a child with his parents, moving to Harrison county, Mo. When about eight years of age he came to Athens township, Ringgold county, where he lived the remainder of his days. he was united in marriage August 22, 1882, to Mary Belle ALLEN. To this union four children were born: Frank, Maude and Mable, of Kellerton, Iowa, and Mrs. Blanche STROBEL, of Fulton, Mo. All the children except Mrs. STROBEL were by his side when death came. During the winter of 1880, under the pastorate of Rev. DANNER, he united with the Methodist church of Kellerton, Iowa. He has been a resident of this vicinity for about sixty years. On March 26th [1926] he was taken ill with bronchial pneumonia and passed away Monday, March 29th, at 3:30 p.m., being 67 years, 4 months and 19 days of age. He leaves to mourn his departure his companion, all four children, two sisters, Mrs. Sadie MERRITT and Mrs. Chas. DAVIS of Kellerton, Iowa, and one brother, S. N. MERRILL, of Wray, Colo., together with a host of other relatives and friends.

"Farewell, dear father, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain; We shall behold thy face again.
'Tis ours to miss thee all our years,
And tender memories of thee keep,
Thine in the Lord to rest, for so,
He giveth his beloved sleep."

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and his mortal body laid to rest in Maple Row cemetery.

Card of Thanks.

We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness and help during the illness and death of our husband and father.
