OBITUARY - Virginia (DANIELSON) MERCER

Virginia MERCER died Sunday, December 3, 2005, at Saint Peter providence Hospital in Olympia, Washington, at 72 years of age.

She was born February 24, 1933 in Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Lloyd and Ruby (KNIGHT) DANIELSON.

Mrs. MERCER was united in marriage to R. C. MERCER on April 17, 1949, in Redding, Iowa. Three children were born to this union.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen LaVerne, in June 1950, her parents, and two sisters, Joyce and Jean.

Surviving are her husband, R. C. MERCER; son, Kevin MERCER and wife Dot and daughter, Kathleen REYNOLDS and husband Larry, all of Shelton, Washington; grandchildren, Aimee CATHERS of Shelton, Washington and Robert MERCER of Ballard, Washington; great-granddaughter, Caitlyn HOMAN of Shelton, Washington; brother, Lloyd DANIELSON of Olympia, Washington; sisters, Margaret WILSON of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Mary Ann BARNES and Iva BOURNE, both of Randle, Washington, and Faith DANIELSON of Everett, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia and R. C. moved to Shelton, Washington, in 1951. She managed the catalog department of the Shelton P.C. Penney, retiring in 1996 after 20 years of service.

Mrs. MERCER became a member of the Children's Hospital Guild Association in 1974 and remained active in the Guild until her death. She loved children, crocheting, taking photographs of her family and keeping scrapbooks. A quick wit and lively sense of humor were a delight to all who knew and loved her. Always kind and generous, she was dedicated to her home and family.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the Hope Chapel in Shelton, Washington. Memorial donations may be sent to the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 5371, CL-04, 4800 Sandpoint, Way NE, Seattle, Washington 98105-0371.
