Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

OBITUARY - PHILIP ROBIN McFALL

Philip Robin McFALL, son of Charles and Vicki HENDERSON McFALL, was born October 19, 1958, in Fresno, California. In 1960 Charles, who as (sic) an immigration inspector, was transferred and the family moved to Illinois.

The family moved again to Montana where Robin started school at Whitewater. It was in 1965, when they moved to Tok, Alaska (in the Alaskan interior) that Robin found a new interest - snowmobiles. They moved back to the United States, to Exelsior (sic) Springs, Mo. Robin started Little LEague baseball here which he really liked. It was difficult for him because about that time he devolped asthma and multiple allergies.

Their next move was back to Alaska, to Anchorage, where Robin's father was killed in an airplaine crash in 1971. From there the family came to Mount Ayr where they still reside. Robin generally didn't complain about his poor health so most people didn't know that he continued to have asthma and many bouts with pneumonia.

Robin was a collector of old bottles and telephone insulators. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping and swimming. Other interests included motorcycles and an old El Camino he fixed up.

His last illness, first diagnosed as aplastic anemia and later as leukemia, became evident in early spring of 1975 when he was a junior at Mount Ayr Community high school. He was able to graduate from high school in 1976, and attended Simpson College, Indianola, off and on as his health would permit. He liked college very much and was majoring in accounting.

The last year of his lief Robin became more interested in the real and lasting things of life and in April of this year accepted Jesus as his Savior.

He is survived by his mother, Vicki; one brother, Kevin; two sisters, Sandy and Karen; a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Cassie HENERSON; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robin left us Tuesday morning, August 15, 1978, while sleeping at home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 1978, from the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church with Rev. Daryl PALS and Rev. Leslie CALHOUN officiating. Organist was Mrs. William HAROVER who accompanied the church choir as they sang.

Casketbearers were Jay MOORE, Greg YOUNG, Greg DRAKE, Jim KNUDSON, Scott RUNYON and Scott FRENCH. Burial was in Grandview Cemtery in Albany, Mo. Rhoades-Wilson Service was in charge of arrangements.
