S. J. McCORMICK DIES at PUEBLO FRIDAY MORNING

Samuel James McCORMICK, 77, retired cattlemen, died at a Pueblo hospital early Friday morning after a sickness of more than three years. The family home was at 837 Ussie avenue, South Canon.

Born in Indiana on May 1, 1865, Mr. McCORMICK was reared in that state and attended schools there. He later resided for a time in Iowa, where he was married on March 3, 1896.

The family moved to Kansas, where they resided for about 15 years, coming to Colorado in 1918, settling at Holly. They came from there to Canon City five years ago.

He was a member of the First Baptist church and a former member of the Grange.

His wife and one son, Jim, Canon City garageman, reside here. Also living are eight other children, George, Mrs. Jennie WOOD all of Dodge City, Kansas., Mrs. Fern SQUIRE of Raton, N. M., Mrs. E1la. DALLARD of Canto, Ohio, Thomas of San Antonio Texas. Maynard of Holly, Mrs. Dove ROWE of Pueblo and Sergeant Wayne McCORMICK of Dallas, Texas.; also 16 grandchildren and six great-grand-children.

The body of Mr. McCORMICK is In care of the Wilson mortuary. Funeral arrangements are pending, waiting word from out-of-town relatives.

SERVICES HELD MONDAY for S. J. McCORMICK

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Monday for Samuel James McCORMICK, 77-year-old South Canon man, who died at a Pueblo hospital Friday morning after a long sickness.

The Rev. A. E. RETZER, pastor, officiated, in the presence of many friends of the family. Numerous flowers were banked about the casket.

A duet composed of Mrs. Pete PADGETT and Mrs. Lilly LITKE accompanied by Mrs. Virginia BLUNT, sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer."

Pallbearers, close friends of Mr. McCORMICK, were F. L. SPEAKS, L. KELLOGG, Harry RHOADES, C. STRICKLAND, Mr. SPRINGER and Mr. SMITH. Burial was by the Wilson mortuary in Lakeside cemetery [Canon City].

Among the many relatives and friends present for the rites were Mrs. Jennie WOODALL, Dodge City, Ran.; Mr. and Mrs. E. W. SQUIRE of Raton, N. M.; Mrs., Emma BALLARD of Canton, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCORMICK and son, Jimmie, of Canon City; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. McCORMICK and son, Laland, of San Antonio, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. M. C. McCORMICK and sons, M. C. Jr., and Richard of Holly; Mr. and Mrs. E. B. ROWE and daughters, Jeanne and Jewell of Pueblo; Sergeant and Mrs. Wayne McCORMICK of Dallas Texas Mrs. Pearl HODGES of Denver; Dr. and Mrs. W. T. NEWTON and daughters, Leona and Clair of Leadville, and W. M. KINDLER of Coolidge, Kans.

NOTE: Samuel married Emma FLEMMING May 8, 1887, Harrison County, Missouri. Emma was born in Ohio in 1867, and died in 1896 with interment at Lincoln Center Cemetery, Lincoln Township, Harrison County, Missouri. Samuel and Emma's son, William Isaac "Ike" McCORMICK was born in Missouri in August of 1889. He died during World War I at the age of 29 years on January 25, 1919, in France and was burined at Flanders Field, France.
