OBITUARY - LEONARD ORVILLE MAUDLIN

Leonard Orville MAUDLIN was born on January 13, 1909, in Worth County, Missouri, to James Franklin and Luella WOOLFORD MAUDLIN, and passed away April 13, 1985, at his home in Clearfield at the age of 76 years and three months.

He was united in marriage on October 8, 1931, to Elsie SCOTT. To this union were born six children. He farmed all his life in Iowa and Missouri, until he moved to Clearfield in 1961, where he retired and spent his time gardening and growing an orchard.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Elvis "Bud" MAUDLIN; two brothers, Clarence and Wilbur; and one sister, Audra SMITH.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Elsie; daughters: Luella BARKER and husband Ralph of Rudd, Iowa, Nellie BETHEL and Bill of Lamoni, Retha OweNS and husband Gordon of Leon, Thelma DRAKE and husband Merle of Mount Ayr, Linda FLETCHALL and husband Fred of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Merlene MAUDLIN of Kellerton; twenty grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Avis MAUDLIN and Josephine STEVENS; many nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

Leonard was a quiet, likeable man, who enjoyed his family and especially enjoyed having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit.

Services were held April 15, 1985, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Ed KAIL. Music was provided by Mrs. Merrill PERRY, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Rogert TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were Jim PEARCE, Ellis MAUDLIN, Donald THURMAN, Gerald ZOLLARS, Jerry FLETCHALL and Virgil DEARDORFF. Burial was in Lotts Grove Cemetery in Worth County, Missouri.
