OBITUARY - FRANK R. MASON
Frank R. MASON was born March 21, 1938 in Thermopolis, Wyoming. He was the son of Arvel and Winnie (HULL) MASON. He
departed this life April 11, 2000 at his home at 304 W. Columbus, Mount Ayr, Iowa due to complications of diabetes.
His family moved to Longmont, Colorado when he was young. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17.
In 1959, Frank married Betty BURBACK in Loveland, Colorado. To this union three children were born, Randy, Steve and
He served 16 years in the Navy before returning to Longmont. There he met Eileen and they were united in marriage April
11, 1969. Together they raised two children, Ken and Kathy STEPHENS.
Frank started a successful agency with Farmer's Insurance Group. He worked 18 years before retiring in 1989. He and Eileen
then move to Mount Ayr.
He spent the next 10 years being part of the community. He enjoyed hanging out at the coffee shop and lumberyard, serving
on the city council and being part of the Lions Club.
Left to cherish his memory are wife Eileen (PRITCHETT) MASON of Mount Ayr; son Randy MASON and wife Linda of Sunnyvale,
California; son Steve MASON of Everett, Washington; daughter Laure and husband William SCOTT of Moreno Valley, California;
son Ken and wife Cindy STEPHENS and daughter Kathy POORE, all of Mount Ayr; grandchildren, Josie STEPHENS and fiancÚ Wyatt
MOBLEY of Maloy, Iowa, Aimie STEPHENS of Adel, Scott and Krisy POORE of Mount Ayr and Cameron MASON of Sunnyvale,
California; sisters-in-law Lois MACKEY and Marilyn JOHNSON and husband Theron, all of Delphos, Iowa; brother-in-law Jerry
PRITCHETT of Clarinda, Iowa; and many surviving nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Winnie MASON; his sister Mildred Arrant; three brothers, Ronald (Bud),
Robert and Arthur MASON; father-in-law Ralph PRITCHETT and mother-in-law Lucille PRITCHETT; and brother-in-law Junior
Services were held Thursday, April 13, 2000 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr with Reverend Charles
HAWKINS officiating. Nancy SACKETT, Mary TRULLINGER and Margaret BICKERS provided music. Honorary pallbearers were Todd
JACKSON, Clyde SUMMERS, Merritt TRIGGS, L. W. Joe GROSS, Norman KLEJCH and Craig WINEMILLER.
Masonic rites were given by Faith Lodge #179 A.F. & A.M., L. W. Joe Gross, and military rites by Ringgold Post #172
Frank was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
