OBITUARY - CLARA LEONA (SMITH) MAIN

Clara Leona (SMITH) MAIN, daughter of Anna and Alonzo SMITH, was born January 9, 1892, near Caledonia in Ringgold County, Iowa, and departed this life August 20, 1987, in the Greater Community Hospital, Creston, Iowa, at the age of 95 years, seven months and 11 days.

On November 15, 1913, Clara was united in marriage to Lewis C. MAIN. To this union one son, Franklin, was born.

Clara received her education in the Caledonia rural school. She united with the Ringgold Evangelical Church at an early age, transferring her membership to the Caledonia Methoidst Church and upon leaving the farm in 1951, she transferred to the Lamoni Methodist Church, of which she remained an active member as long as her health permitted. The past year she has resided in the Crest Haven Care Center, Creston, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband; five sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her son, Franklin, and wife, Louise; two grandchildren, Nancy and husband Orvin of Denver, Colorado, and Stewart and wife, Linda, and children, Tanya and Nicole of Creston, Iowa; also many nephews and nieces and friends.

Funeral services were held August 24, 1987, at Wilson-Watson Funeral Home of Mount Ayr, conducted by the Rev. Dr. M. Wayne CLARK, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Creston. The music was provided by Joan NOBLE and Karen ELMORE WILLIS.

Casketbearers were Paul SWIGART, Glen WARDRIP, Robert OILER, Keith ELLIOTT, Russell THOMAS and Dr. Clarence CLARK. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
