OBITUARY - GEORGE E. LILES

George E. LILES, 74, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Apache Junction, AZ. Funeral services were held March 12 at Norwalkd Christian Church. Cremation will follow his service and graveside committal of his cremains will be at a later date in Afton, IA.

George E. LILES was born in Ellston, IA and lived in Des Moines, and for the past 45 years in Norwalk. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Armstrong Tire before retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Norwalk Christian Church, American Legion Post #562 and Rubber Workers Union Local #164.

He enjoyed woodcarving, traveling and RVing.

George is survived by his wife, Shirley LILES, of Norwalk; daughter, Sheila (Maynard) ZIPF of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Robert D. (Anne) LILES of Sun City West, AZ and Ronald J. (Sue) LILES of Des Moines; sisters, Lorraine (Daughn) REASONER of Mt. Ayr, June (and the late Bill) RINEHART of Mt. Ayr and Iola (LeRoy) WERNLI of Perry; sisters-in-law, Fern (and the late Carl) ROSS of Van Meter and Velma (and the late Tom) OWENS of Des Moines, and many nieces and nephews and special friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Opal (HAZEN) LILES; and sisters Myrettle LILIES and Donna PICKENS.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
