The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1925

OBITUARY - MRS. MALINDA LEMLEY.

Lemley gravestone.jpg Malinda HEADLEY, daughter of James and Sarah HEADLEY, was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania September 14, 1842, and departed this life January 14, 1925, at the age of 82 years, three months and fourteen days. She was united in marriage to David A. LEMLEY, also of Green county, Pennsylvania, January 1, 1865, and to this union were born eight children, six of whom are living and mourn the death of their kind and loving mother. Two children died in infancy. The living children are James V. LEMLEY of Leon, Iowa, Sadie DeBOLT of Kellerton, Ida BASSINGER of Maloy, Loucretia WILEY of Leon, Myrtle and Clara LEMLEY of Maloy. She is also survived by Johnny LEMLEY to whom she was a mother since he was two years of age, and one brother, William H. HEADLEY of West Jefferson, Ohio; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in girlhood and has never ceased to love and trust in her blessed Savior and rest upon His promises.

She moved to Iowa in October, 1868, and settled in Benton township, Ringgold county, on the farm where she lived ever since. She had lived a widowed life since 1907, her husband having passed on to rest at that time. She has been an invalid for more than a year and has been cared for by her daughters, Myrtle and Clara, who did all that kind and loving hands could do to relieve her suffering. She bore her sickness with uncomplaining patience and was ready and willing to go when the time came.

There is no death,
The stars go down to rise
Upon some fairer shore,
And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown
They shine forever more.
There is no death.

The dust we tread
Shall change beneath the summer shower,
To golden grain of mellow fruit
Or rainbow tinted flower.
There is no death.

The leaves may fall,
The flowers may fade and pass away;
They only wait through wintry hours.
The coming of the May.
And ever near us, though unseen,
The dear immortal spirit tread,
For all the boundless universe is life,
There is no dead.

CARD OF THANKS.
We take this means of expressing to the neighbors and friends our heart-felt thanks for the many acts of kindness and sympathy so generously bestowed during the illness and on the occasion of the death and and (sic) funeral of our mother, Mrs. Malinda LEMLEY.
THE CHILDREN.
