OBITUARY - DAVID ELDER LAWHEAD

David Elder LAWHEAD, son of Robert Jackson and Margaretta (ELDER) LAWHEAD, was born in Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, on September 26, 1853. He died in September, 1928, at Saint Joseph.

The family changed their surname from LOUGHEAD to LAWHEAD when they moved to Illinois from Ohio before David was born.

On September 26, 1876, Mounmouth, Illinois, David married Margaretta "Rettie" WRIGHT, the daughter of James and Eliza (McCLEAN) WRIGHT. They lived at Mount Ayr, Iowa, then Tarkio, Missouri, and the back to Saint Joseph, Missouri. They had three children: Robert, who died in early childhood around the age of two or three; William T., born in Ringgold County, Iowa; and Minta Elizabeth (LAWHEAD) FITZPATRICK, born at Tarkio, Missouri; four grandchildren: Maxine, William, and James LAWHEAD, and _____ FITZPATRICK.

Mr. LAWHEAD was interred at Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Margaretta "Rettie" (WRIGHT) LAWHEAD was born August 24, 1852, Adams County, Ohio, and died the day after May Day, two months before her daughter Minta's wedding day.

Maxine Vienna LAWHEAD, daughter of William T. and Helen E. (COPPOCK) LAWHEAD was born in Buchanan County, Missouri, July 25, 1913, and died in Buchanan County, Missouri, on December 24, 1917. She was interred at Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Missouri.
