MARY LASLEY RITES OCT. 10

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth LASLEY, 83, of Blockton, were held October 10 at the Blockton Christian Church with Rev. James FERRIS and Rev. Clarence LANDIS officiating. Mrs. LASLEY died October 8 in the Ringgold County Hospital. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton.

Mary Elizabeth LASLEY was the oldest daughter of Albert and Minerva WEAVER; Mary was born near Athelstan, Iowa, February 11, 1882.

She received her education in Taylor County schools and received degrees at St. Joseph Business University [and] Highland Park College, Des Moines. She also received and graduated from Beautician's School in Chicago, and taught school for 21 years at Maloy and Redding, Iowa.

She taught Sunday school in the Christian Church of which she was a member. In 1904 she was baptized and joined the church of which she was active as long as health permitted.

On August 13, 1924, she was married to Willis H. SPRINGS. They made their home in Chicago where they operated a beauty salon and barbershop. Mr. SPRINGS died in St. Louis in 1934.

Mrs. LASLEY came back to Blockton and Sheridan, Mo., where she met and married Simeon LASLEY in August [1] 1939. Mr. LASLEY died Nov. [30] 1959.

She is survived by a brother, Roy WEAVER, of Blockton; sister, Jessie, of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepson, Dale LASLEY of Red Oak; three grandchildren, Mrs. Dola SIMMONS of Blockton, Irvin Dale LASLEY of Sioux City and Jerry DEAN in the Armed Forces in Viet Nam; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

She will be missed by her many friends.
