OBITUARY - MRS. JOHN F. LANDES

Frances Isabelle TROWER was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, February 25, 1859, and died at her home in Grand River, Iowa, March 14, 1918, aged 59 years and 17 days. She was left an orphan when three years of age.

On June 29, 1875, at Westerville, Iowa, she was joined in marriage to John F. LANDES, who survives her and mourns the loss of a truly faithful wife. She was the mother of four children, on whom, with one step-son, the late Dr. LANDES, all the devotion of an affectionate mother was bestowed. Also one brother, R. R. TROWER, of Kellerton, Iowa. All her children, Mrs. E. S. HARRIS, of Leon; H. L. LANDES, of Grand River; Mrs. D. W. DAY, of Grand River; Mrs. B. REASONER, of Beaconsfield, with eight grandchildren, remain to mourn her loss.

She was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Westerville, Iowa, in 1882.

Only a few hours before she fell asleep, she called her children to her bedside, assured them of her readiness to depart and exhorted them to meet her in the better world.
