The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1926

OBITUARY - MRS. ALEX LAMB.

Sophia H. MILLER was born July 26, 1862, near Redding, Iowa, the daughter of William M. and Mary J. MILLER, old pioneers of Ringgold county, Iowa. She passed away at the home of her son, Will, April 15, 1926, aged 63 years, eight months and 19 days. She came to Howard county in 1885 and taugh in the public schools in 1885 and taught in the public schools of the county until her marriage to Alex LAMB, October 9, 1881. Mr. LAMB passed away July 29, 1921.

To this unon were born four sons, two of whoms died in infancy. She is survived by two sons, Will, who lives near Danneborg, and walter, who lives on the old homestead, and by three grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters and one brother, two sisters having preceded her in death. The sisters living are: Mrs. Myra CROUCH of Redding, Iowa; Mrs. Fanny RUSH and Miss Valera MILLER of Monmouth, Ill.; and Miss Etta MILLER, Marshalltown, Iowa; and the brother is Dr. B. H. MILLER of Bockton (sic), Iowa.

Mrs. LAMB was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church all her life. She was a woman of sterling christian character, a loving and kind wife and mother, a good neighbor, kind and helpful to all. She will be greatly missed, not only by her dear ones, but by all her many friends.

The funeral took place from the home of her son, Will, where Rev. PEDERSEN held a brief service and spoke from Psalms 23 and John 14. From there the body was taken to the church at Farwell, where Rev. Charles B. BRYANT of St. Paul and Rev. J. Chr. PEDERSEN of Dannebrog, both spoke comforting words to the bereaved ones. The funeral was a very large one, the church not having room for half of the people who attended. She ws laid to rest beside her husband in the little cemetery southeast of Farwell to await the resurrection of the just. May the Lord comfort her dear ones in their sorrow.
