Death of Mrs. Naomi S. Kirby.

A message was receivwed Saturday by M. E. FREELAND announcing the death of Mrs. Naomi S. KIRBY, who passed away at the home in Oak Park, Ill., Friday, May 8 [1925], aged 79 years and whose death occurred instantly as the result of a fall.

Mrs. KIRBY was the widow of John S. KIRBY and the mother of G. M. KIRBY, of Buffalo, N. Y., and Mrs. W. E. MARTIN of Oak Park, Ill. The KIRBY family were among the pioneers of Mount Ayr, having settled here in 1867. The Kirby Grocery will be remembered by the older inhabitants and G. M. KIRBY was for twenty-five years, prior to 1904, a familiary figure in Mount Ayr merchandising while his sister, Mrs. MARTIN, was for many years a teacher in our schools.

Mrs. KIRBY was a charter member of the Mount Ayr Christian church.

The funeral service was held at her late home in Oak Park, Ill., and the body was brought to Mount Ayr for interment in the beautiful Rose Hill cemetery. The funeral party was met at Benton by a large delegation of her old friends and neighbors and at the grave, where brief services were conducted by Rev. Ross WILLIAMS, pastor of the Christian church, many firends of the family gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. The pall bearers were C. R. KEATING, J. A. WILLIAMS, Randolph S. BEALL, M. E. FREELAND, Howard TEDFORD and Charles D. MILLIGAN.

Those present from out of town were G. M. KIRBY and Mrs. C. M. BERKEY of Buffalo, N. Y., Mrs. W. E. MARTIN and daughter, Mrs. Easton DAVIS of Oak Park, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. W. E. BERKEY of Humeston, Mr. and Mrs. George KIRBY and Mrs. John SNYDER of Corydon, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. LEWIS, Mrs. Jennie MARSHALL and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. POOR, of Des Moines.

__________

An Appreciation.

To all of our old friends and neighbors who so generously gave us their sympathy and help in the sad rites of loving service at the grave of our mother, we extend our sincere and most affectionalte gratitude.

G. M. KIRBY.
