OBITUARY ~ ELSIE BELLE (GUNTER) JONES

Mrs. Elsie Jones died Sunday, Feb 12 at the home of her daughter at Lynwood, Washington. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 17 at the Sharpsburg Methodist church. Rev. Frank Greenwood officiated. Burial was in the Marshalltown cemetery south of Diagonal.

Elsie Belle daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Gunter was born on a farm near Benton, Iowa, December 14, 1890. On February 21, 1909 she was united in marriage to Walter E. Jones. In 1929 they moved to a farm east of Conway. In 1947 they moved to Sharpsburg where they became custodians of the Sharpsburg school. In 1958 she left Sharpsburg to live with her daughter in Lynnwood, Washington.

As a young girl she joined the United Brethren church in Benton and later transferred her membership to the Sharpsburg Methodist church.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband and three children: Treva, Cecil and Thomas.

She leaves a daughter Mrs. Olive Stevens of Lynnwood, Washington, a son, Weldon Jones of New Market, 2 brothers-in-law Clyde Spicer of and Gene Baxter of Clearfield; 3 nephews, Phil, Paul and Harry Gunter; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
