OBITUARY ~ ROBERT D. JOHNSTON.

Robert D[ougal]. JOHNSTON, youngest son of William and Elizabeth JOHNSTON, was born December 16, 1868, in Peoria county, Illinois. He came to Iowa with her parents when he was eleven years of age. The family settled on a farm near Ellston, where he grew to manhood, and the remainder of his life was spent in Ringgold county.

On September 13, 1891, he was united in marriage with Lucy B. DANIELS of Kellerton, Iowa. They established their home in Kellerton, where they reared their children. In the year 1921 they moved to Mount Ayr, where they have since made their home. To this union nine children were born, five daughters and four sons, namely: Mrs. Leah BRADLEY of Poe township; Mrs. Ava BULKLEY of Buhl, Idaho; Mrs. Vada STONE of Kansas City, Kansas; Homer I. JOHNSTON of Buhl, Idaho; Jave Avery JOHNSTON of Tingley, Iowa; Darrell F. and Robert Keith JOHNSTON of Mount Ayr, Iowa; Mrs. Mary K. BOLINGER of Clarinda, Iowa, and one baby daughter, Helen, who passed way in infancy. Besides his wife and eight children, he is survived by twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

NOTE: Robert died on November 27, 1938. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
