Mount Ayr Record News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

OBITUARY ~ MRS. R. D. JOHNSTON.

Lucy B., daughter of James and Agnes DANIELS, was born June 24, 1875, in Henry county, Illinois. Death came after a lingering illness on January 20, 1944. While in failing health for over a year, her illness was not considered serious until in September when amputation of her right limb became necessary. For the past two weeks her life had hung in the balance, and at her home with her seven children in attendance she slipped quietly away in the early morning of Thursday.

Early in life Mrs. JOHNSTON united with the Methodist church in Kellerton, in which faith she remained faithful until death.

She was united in marriage to Robert D. JOHNSTON on September 13, 1891. To this union nine children were born. Mr. JOHNSTON preceded her in death on November 27, 1938; one daughter, Helen, died in infancy, and a son, Homer, on July 14, 1942.

Those left to mourn her passing are the children, Mrs. Leah BRADLEY, of Poe township, Mrs. Ava BULKLEY of Buhl, Idaho, Mrs. Vada STONE of Kansas City, Kan., Avery of Winterset, Keith and Darrell of Mount Ayr, and Mrs. Mary BOLINGER, who with her husband, a member of the U.S. army, has been living in California; three sisters, four brothers, twenty-four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, together with other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors will miss her in the family circle and daily life.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Frank MOORE, pastor of the Methodist church of Mount Ayr. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

___________

Note of Appreciation.

We wish to express our sincere thanks for the many acts of kindness, reflecting love and sympathy, and the floral tribute extended us on the occasion of the death of our mother. We wish also to say, "Thank you" to those who furnished the beautiful music and to the pallbearers. - The children of Mrs. R. D. JOHNSTON.
