DEATHS ~ MRS. WILLIAM JOHNSON.

Cora Gertrude JONES was born at Mt. Ayr, Iowa, June 1, 1876, and died in Scandia township, Republic county, Kansas, March 14, 1919, aged 42 years, 9 months and 3 days. When she was seven years of age her parents brought her to Kansas and settled on the farm where she died. She was married to William JOHNSON, February 19, 1900. To this union six children were born, Ross M., Lois M., Walter B., Ruby P., Warren L., and Lawrene K., all of whom, with her husband, survive. She spent all of her married live in Scandia township, except on year she spent in Norway. Fifteen years ago last fall, Mr. JOHNSON purchased the old home from her parents and the next spring they moved to the home of her childhood where they have since resided except the last two years which they spent in the town of Scandia.

Beside the husband and children above mentioned she leaves three sisters, Mrs. May ELLIOTT and Mrs. Grace MITCHELL of Scandia and Miss Nellie JONES of Belleville. One sister preceded her to the spiritual world, Mrs. Lola BRADLEY, who died at Jetmore, Kans., two years ago. Her aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. [Gabriel Marion and Hepzibah W. (DAVIDSON)]JONES, of Belleville, also live to mourn.

The funeral services were conducted from her late home, Saturday at two o'clock. Rev. L. C. HICKS of Scandia officiating. Interment was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

"Jesus while our hearts are bleeding
O'er the spoils that death hath won,
We would at this solemn meeting
Calmly say, 'Thy will be done.'"
