Barbara Jeanne Harl Hutton was born to Jim and Wilma Harl on July 14, 1950 in Centerville, Iowa. After a long bout with cancer, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 18th, 2014.
Barb was raised in Casey, Iowa. She attended school in the Adair-Casey School District and graduated in 1968. While in high school, Barb played basketball and showed cattle in 4-H. Upon graduation, Barb attended Drake University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1972.
Barb was united in marriage to Bruce Hutton on June 4th, 1983. They began their marriage living in St. Charles. In 1983, they moved to Greeley, Colorado. In 1985, they moved to Ringgold County, living in both Mount Ayr and Kellerton. Barb and Bruce purchased their farm in 2000.
For the past 27 years, Barb was employed at Graceland University in a variety of administrative positions. In her last position, she served as a Loan Officer. Barb enjoyed her career at Graceland, the learning opportunities it offered and friendships formed.
In her free time, Barb had many different hobbies and activities. Barb was a very civic-minded person and spent time serving on many different committees and boards, including a small stint as Mayor of Kellerton. Barb also served on the Ringgold Mutual Board and as a secretary for the Mount Ayr Country Club. In the last few years, she served as a narrator for the Ringgold County Singers. Barb was an avid golfer and played at least 2 rounds a week throughout the summer months. For the past 29 years, she spent her winter months bowling, with many years attending the state tournaments. Barb was an avid, lifelong reader and loved reading a variety of materials. Another passion of Barb's was her birds. After moving to the farm, she maintained a slew of feeders on a regular year-round basis. Barb also loved traveling across the country to the yearly National Trappers Conventions where they met up with family and long-time friends. Barb loved the Iowa State Fair and camped there every year.
Barb was preceded in death by her father, Jim Harl.
She is survived by her husband Bruce of Mount Ayr; mother Wilma Harl of Williamsburg, Iowa; sister Marilyn Manning of Phoenix, Arizona and daughters Shae and Dana; brother Eldon Harl and Julie of Williamsburg and daughters Sarah and Beth; step-daughters Lisa Keith and Jay of Watkins, Colorado and Lori Hutton and Tracy of Fort Worth, Texas; step-grandchildren Jerrod, Kelsey, Courtney Keith and Chase, Shelbey, Connor Horton; and many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her father, Jim Harl.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 West Monroe St., Mount Ayr, Iowa, is in charge of the arrnagements.

Casketbearers were Jay Keith, Jerrod Keith, Tracy Horton, Connor Horton, Chase Horton, Bob Schafer and Crae Geist.
Burial ws in the Rose Hill Cemtery in Mount Ayr.
