OBITUARY ~ NELLIE LEONA (KERNS) HUBER

Nellie Leona Kerns Huber was born February 3, 1897, at Stockton, Missouri, and died March 3, 1993 at the age of 96 years and one month at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa. She was one of 11 children of Joe and Carrie Barton Kerns.

Nellie married Earnest Huber in Gravity, Iowa, on November 10, 1915. To this union were born 7 children: Opal, Duane, Darrell, Cecil,Helen, Wauneta and Dale. Nellie and Earnest farmed near Sharpsburg and also near Diagonal before moving into Diagonal and then to the Lenox Care Center.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Darrell, one daughter, Wauneta, two sons-in-law, Vernon Day and Virgil Beamon, one daughter-in-law, Thelma Huber, and four grandchildren.

Survivors include a brother, Harold Kerns and his wife Maureen of Lenox; her children: Opal Day of Gravity, Iowa, Duane of Lenox, Iowa, Cecil and his wife Margaret of Helena, Missouri, Helen and her husband Richard Volbrech of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dale and his wife Rebecca of Creston, Iowa. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and a son-in-law Leonard Cracraft of Ridgeway, Missouri, and a daughter-in-law Gladys Gose of Lenox, Iowa.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 1993, at Wilson-Watson Funeral Home, Clearfield, Iowa, with Rev. Eydie Stephens officiating.

Interment at Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield, Iowa.
