OBITUARY ~ GRACE (SHORT) HORTON

Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at United Methodist Church for Grace Horton, 75. She died Jan. 4 at Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr.

Burial was in Clearfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug Horton, Lynn Christensen, Kenny Larsen, Keith Larsen, Ed Douglas and Ed Sullivan. The Rev. Duane Ferguson officiated.

She was born July 8, 1910, on a farm near Conway in Taylor County, daughter of William and Matilda Short. She was reared on the family farm, and attended school in the Conway district.

She was united in marriage to William C. Horton July 28, 1930, in Diagonal.

She had resided at a nursing home in Clearfield the past five years. She was the last surviving member of her family of 10 children.

Her greatest pride and joy were her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Cleota Larsen and Kay Douglas; two sons, John and Vernon; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. All reside in Clearfield except Mrs. Douglas and her family, who make their home in Lenox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her nine brothers and sisters and a son, Rob.
