OBITUARY ~ REV. WILLIAM C. "WILL" HENN

William C. Henn, the oldest of nine children of Fred and Elizabeth Holms Henn, was born August 21, 1898 on a farm northwest of Northboro, Iowa. He died at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa on Tuesday, September 1 at the age of eighty-three years and ten days.

Will graduated as Valedictorian of Northboro High School and Simpson College at Indianola. He attended seminary at Garrett Biblical Institute in Evanston, Illinois. His first pastorate was at Luther, Iowa in 1926. Reverend Henn was named Deacon of the Methodist Church in 1925 and an Elder in 1927. He served churches at Cumberland, Macedonia, Dallas,Clearfield, Fontanelle, Waukee, Yale, Prairie Center and Tracey-Harvey prior to his retirement in 1955.

On August 3, 1925, he was united in marriage with Reba L. Talley, the daughter of a Methodist pastor. Reba labored faithful with him until the time of her death on July 20, 1972.

He was united in marriage with Bessie Baker Bennett at Lenox, Iowa on December 2, 1972. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1976.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, a sister and a brother.

Reverend Henn devoted his life to Missions and Evangelism. He felt he could not do enough for the Lord.

Survivors include his daughter, Marian Goodenberger and husband, Emery of Winterset; six grandchildren, Marcia Bankus, Rhonda Siebels, Sondra Smith, Pamela Mahoney, Perry Goodenberger, and Martin Goodenberger; four great grandchildren; a brother, Fred Henn of Braddyville, Iowa; six sisters, Perna Farnsworth of Omaha, Margaret Flack of Westboro,Missouri, Myrtle Foxworthy of Shenandoah, Clara James, Ruth Gibson, both of Northboro, and Freda Macrandea of Braddyville; three step-sons, Roy and Paul Bennett, both of Lenox and Arthur Bennett of Mapleton; a step-daughter, Alice (Mrs. L. L.) Siverly of Clearfield; as well as other relatives.

Services were held Friday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lenox. Reverend Rex Logan,pastor and Reverend Richard Pfaltzgraff, district superintendent, officiated.

Music was by Norma Paymal, organist and Mike and Jill Evans, vocalists. The selection was "How Great Thou Art". "Blessed Assurance" was the congregational hymn.

Casket bearers were L. L. Siverly, Ron Wurster, Glen Brokaw, Paul Bennett, Dick Bunn and Glen Grout.

Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery at Diagonal, Iowa. Larkin-Bender Funeral Home of Lenox was in charge of arrangements.
