VAN WERT, IA. - Services for Terry HAINLINE, 38, of Van Wert, an employee of Saxton Construction Co. in Leon and
a former Decatur County deputy sheriff, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church here. He died
Wednesday at a hospital in Osceola. The cause of death is unknown pending completion of an autopsy. Survivors
include his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Jodi Renea HAINLINE and Kelli Ann HAINLINE, both of Van Wert; five brothers,
Lyndell of Creston, Charles of Davenport, and Larry, Garry and Ted, all of Van Wert; and a sister, Marilyn Jean
COOK of Van Wert.

OBITUARY ~ TERRY RAY HAINLINE
Terry Ray HAINLIN, son of Clifford Paul and Dorothy Fern (HALEY) HAINLINE, was born May 21, 1947, at Creston, Iowa.
He passed away at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa, on April 23, 1986, at the age of 38 years, 11 months
and two days.
Terry was the sixth of seven children. He was born and raised on a farm near Shannon City, Iowa. His
parents moved to Clarke County in the year 1952. Terry attended Weldon Elementary and Clarke Community School[s].
He graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Van Wert.
Terry Ray was married to Cheryl Beth WOOLLUMS on May 17, 1970, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. To this union two children were
born, Jodi Renea and Kelli Anne.
Terry worked on construction and in later years was employed by Saxton Construction
Company. He has lived in Van Wert since 1962 and was the Van Wert Fire Chief, on the Van Wert City Council, and a
charter member of the Lions Club. Terry was a member of the Osceola Eagles.
He was a Deputy Sheriff of Decatur
County for several years. Working with law enforcement was a job that gave him great pride and fulfillment. He
was also a City Chief of Police for Lamoni.
Terry was a community leader and was a person who enjoyed being
involved in community projects. He was a dedicated husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Jodi, age 12 and Kelli Anne, age 18 months; his parents, Clifford
and Dorothy Fern; five brothers: Lyndell and wife Avis, of Creston, Iowa; Charles and wife, Doris, of Davenport, Iowa; Larry;
Gary and wife, Kathy; Ted and wife Carolyn, of Van Wert; and one sister, Marilyn and husband, Richard COOK of Van Wert;
several nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 1986, at the Van
Wert Assembly of God Church with Pastor BOOTH and Pastor EASTMAN officiating. Burial was in the Van Wert Cemetery.
Arrangements were made with the Slade & Duerr Funeral Home of Leon.
