OBITUARY - BERNARD BEYER KRUEGER

Bernard KRUEGER, 90, of Creston died July 17, 2006, at Greenfield Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Keith SCHWEITZER will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Creston. Open visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Bernard Beyer KRUEGER, son of Edith Augusta (BEYER) and Otto Emil Fredrick KRUEGER, was born August 10, 1915, in Murray. He graduated from Creston High School in 1933.

On June 4, 1939, Bernard married Margaret Elizabeth HOHERTZ in Fontanelle. They lived in Creston where he worked with his brother Eldon in Creston Dental Laboratory. Later, Bernard work for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and letter carrier until retiring in 1977. Margaret died in 1979.

On Feb. 16, 1980, Bernard married Mary (BROWN) SCHROEDER in Creston where they continued to live. They moved to Quiet Harbor Estates in 1997 and later to Creston Nursing and Rehab Center. After Mary's died in 2006, Bernard moved to Greenfield Manor. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (husband Duane) MORRISON of Casey and Judy (husband Robert) LINN of Mount Ayr; son Don (wife Sydra) KRUEGER of Bay City, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to both wives, Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy SCALISE, and two brothers, Eldon KRUEGER and Lyle KRUEGER in infancy.

Pastor Keith SCHWEITZER will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Bernard is survived by two daughters, Patricia (husband Duane) MORRISON of Casey and Judy (husband Robert) LINN of Mount Ayr, Ia.; a son Don (wife Sydra) KRUEGER of Bay City, Mich.; eight grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.

Bernard is preceded in death by his parents both first wife Margaret and second wife Mary, a sister Dorothy SCALISE, and two brothers Eldon KRUEGER and Lyle in infancy.
