The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1922

OBITUARY - JAMES LEROY KRAUS.

James LeRoy KRAUS, son of John and Alma KRAUS, was born at Kellerton, Iowa, May 8th, and died at Pasadena, Calif., July 19th, 1922.

His parents moved to Mount Ayr while LeRoy was still a small child. He spent his early life in Mount Ayr attending the schools and during his life there was favorably known by the entire community.

The father and one brother died while the family lived in Mount Ayr and LeRoy took the widowed mother to the west where they lived until about four years ago, when the mother heard the call of the voice beyond and passed over into the larger life.

Since the death of the mother LeRoy made his home in California, working at his trade in Pasadena where he was impressing the community with his honest and industrious life.

He was united in marriage to Miss Effie BROWN, of Kellerton, June 3, 1922. He was apparently in the best of health and enjoying life when he went to work but was stricken before the noon hour and died before medical aid could reach him.

Besides his wife he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Livina McCLURG, Malad City, Idaho, Mrs. Mary KNEE, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and two brothers, Frank and Earl, of Los Angeles, Calif.

The body arrived at Kellerton Monday evening, accompanied by the brother and widow.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the pastor and interment at the Maple Row cemetery [Kellerton, Iowa].
