The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1931

OBITUARY - MRS. WILLIAM KNIGHT.

Mary Ann LAYTON was born in Liberty township June 9th, 1855, where she spent her life with the exception of three years. She was married to Wm. KNIGHT August 8, 1874. To this union were born three sons and one daughter. Her husband and one son preceded her in death. Those living are J. E. KNIGHT, Nellie Burnetta DOVE and L. G. KNIGHT, all living in Liberty township. Since her husband's death she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. DOVE, where she passed quietly away Wednesday evening, December 15.

She united with the United Brethren church at an early age and later transferred her membership to the High Point M.E. church where she was a member at the time of her death. She leaves two sons and one daughter, one brother, one sister and four grandchildren to mourn her departure.

The funeral was held from the High Point church December 18, conducted by Rev. K. E. NESBIT, assisted by T. S. RHOADES. The body was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Oliver cemetery [near Ellston, Ringgold County, Iowa].

We wish to thank our many friends for their kindness both in the hour of sickness and death of our mother. The children.
