KILGORE, near Kellerton, Iowa, August 28, 1931, at the age of 84 years, six months and 21 days. When he was six years of age, in the year of 1853, he came with his parents to Iowa. The family first settled in Union county and a year later moved to Taylor county. Here he grew to manhood and in the year 1872 was united in marriage with [Elizabeth] "Matilda" SPURRIER. To this union were born four children. One daughter, Ida, and one son, William, preceded him in death.

Mr. KILGORE came of hardy pioneer stock and was known as a good citizen. Possessed of a friendly dispositon, he made friends readily. He was engaged in farming all his life until the infirmities of old age made it necessary for him to give up active work and he has since made his home with his children. For several years he resided in Lincoln township, Ringgold county, and in the year 1893 he moved to a farm near Cromwell, in Union county, where he made his home until he came to live with his children.

He is survived by his son, J. S. KILGORE, Kellerton, Iowa; his daughter, Mrs. Anna DAVENPORT, Shannon City, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Nebraska and John of Cromwell, Iowa, and two sisters, Mary of Cromwell, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah HOLT of Creston, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 o'clock a. m. at the Christian church in Diagonal, conducted by Rev. Dennis DILLE of Benton, and interment was in Harmony cemetery in Union County.

Card of Thanks.

We wish in this manner to thank the friends who were so gracious to us in every way at the time of the death of our father and grandfather. -- J. S. KILGORE and family, Mrs. Arch DAVENPORT and family
